Racism & Bigotry

This week, I take a vain stab at reassuring myself of sanity by writing the truth about one of the most stupid excuses for hate that has ever been...

To be a racist of any kind in the year 2015 you have to be...
A: Really, really stupid.
B: Completely cloistered and ignorant to the outside world.
Or C: Really determined.

You have to be so gullible and easily manipulated that you allow someone else's 2nd hand opinions and observations to influence and more shape your own. Because even if you've had a first hand experience yourself, there is no way that you've had enough in this day in age to merit discrimination against anyone.
Only our stored impressions of read or viewed situations can be responsible for influencing our opinions to that degree.
Stereotypes are not generated from one persons sole point of view, they are an amalgamation of here-say and innuendo. Usually supported by a mob consciousness who would rather gather their torches and pitchforks, than take the time & patience to sit down and listen to someones point of view completely. "Going along" is much more easy than generating your own opinion after taking time to think about it.
It's very easy to fall back on stereotypes as an excuse to be racist, but what are you really basing it on? A collection of "He said, she saids" from a thousand different mouths, or overblown TV portrayals.
Thats just stupid.

There are a few glaring exceptions however...
Jewish comedians for instance, find no limit to the self deprecating stereotypes they can use to beef up their acts with. Never mind the limitless cavalcade of over emphasized caricatures presented in movies and TV.
It was only recently that I came to understand that most false or negative impressions I might have had towards the Jewish people came from laughing along with them at their own perceived foibles. And since their the ones who painted these ill conceived pictures of themselves and their customs, of course your going to believe these portrayals. Believe them, laugh at them and repeat them. And in repeating them... your helping that stereotype grow.
It's not antisametic.
It's just osmosis.

Next we have the Rapper/Hip hop artists.
No one has propagated a more negative black stereotype of late than these urban poets. I call them "Urban Poets" because I personally do not consider them musicians. I do believe what they do takes talent, but it's not the same kind of talent.
They revel in glorifying the most negative aspects of culture.
Not just Black culture but all culture.
Why? Because it sells.
If you listened only to hip hop, you couldn't help but buy into the complete lie that all young Blacks are into all things criminal.
You have to wonder how if they consistently glorify drug, gang life, and even go so far as to suggest that being a pimp is a viable career path, than how can they possibly expect any kind of respect.
Unfortunately, there are many who can't see beyond the streetwise facade of most hip hop artists, who don't have the maturity to see anything but an overblown criminal who's unabashedly proud of his perceived badness. Add to this a few music videos where scantily clad women are paid to fall for their ruse... and need I say more?
And much like the aforementioned Jewish comedian, I'm sure the pursuit of the almighty dollar far outweighs any notion of preserving their races dignity.
Interesting note.
Having grown up in the 70s and 80s I can truthfully say that the "N" word was seldom heard, much less used as an adjective in popular culture. Ironic that these Urban Poets would be the ones to bring it back into vogue.
I can only imagine how many career racists delight in this new generations willingness to belittle and glorify that word and it's meaning ...  And how many civil rights legends turn in their graves.
In my younger years, people would gasp at that words mention. A thing best left in the past, shameful and taboo...
And now... It's more prevalent than ever.
It no longer holds the weight it once did and so people think little of rattling it off-handedly.
Until Now...  it's just another word.

It's perfectly understandable when someone from a third world country, who's government purposely restricts their flow of information, could formulate a negative opinion of other peoples and their beliefs.
If one version of a story is all your ever allowed to hear, then how could you ever imagine another?
When we call these people ignorant we are not using the word as an insult, but rather as a point of fact. If someone tells me I'm ignorant in the field of car repair, I cannot feel insulted, but rather resigned to the truth of it.
Such is the true evil of having complete Faith and Belief in anything without concrete proof. For simply put...
Anything that demands blind faith without proof or can be subject to multiple interpretation, is in all likelihood a lie that doesn't want to be too closely examined.

And then there is C.
These are the inbred, backward, dead ends of our planet.
The people that are so afraid of their own  inadequacy that they cannot help but try to divert the focus to others.
I mean, you really must have to dig deep in today's world to be able to exclude any one race or cultures positive contributions and only see the negative. It really must take a massive amount of self enforced ignorance to be able to completely hate any one race.
It's kind of like the old saying.
"It sure takes a lot of effort to avoid working for a living"
Anyone who isn't able to understand that we couldn't survive as a species without each other is just plain stupid.

It's really simple.
Anyone of any race or creed can be a saint.
Anyone of any race or creed can be an asshole.
Once you understand these simple truths you can either stay blind and stupid or move forward enlightened.

Chicago: Get over it

This weeks foray into the land of stupid and my inability to understand it, has to do with current events.
Today's news had to do with the racial unrest in Chicago in respect to an overzealous Policeman's gunning down a  17 year old criminal 1 year ago.
It's really hard for me to understand, because I don't see the big deal.
I mean, the kid was a worthless punk and the Policeman in question wasn't fit for duty.
That should be the end of the story.

1 year ago a young knife wielding punk was shot and killed.
There was feigned public outcry and his family who were "grieving" wasted no time in getting a hefty financial settlement from the city of Chicago.
No big loss really.
Despite the Medea trying to gentrify him, it was clear that the boy in question was anything but a model citizen.
This kid had a long record of criminal activity, who, if the film of him robbing a convenience store was any indication, felt as if the law just didn't apply to him.
He walked in, took what he wanted, and simply pushed the little shop owner out of the way as he laughed.
That's what a punk is.
Someone... Black, white, green or Purple who feels that they can do and take what they want... When they want.
People, property... Nothing is given respect in their eyes. And yet these are the selfsame people who believe they deserve respect for some reason.

The policeman, who over reacted in a big way, was just as mentally skewed and should have in no way been on duty, as he also had a long record of complaint.

The real crime here however as I see it, is the bringing of race into the situation.
Unfortunately, when something like this happens, the truth needs to take a back seat to the sensation.
And they'll always be hate-mongers of all colors who want nothing more than to whip our emotions in a frenzy.
That's the real injustice in this.

Put simply...

An unqualified policeman shot a young criminal.
1 less waste of life is on the streets - His family nicely compensated.
The officer - A frightened little man who should never have been given a gun- is now convicted.
And the city of Chicago has been chastised for not screening their men better.
End of story.

You'd think the focus now would be on implementing more non-lethal means of restraint like tasers or rubber bullets or a thousand other alternatives.
They could have easily used this incident to make the boys name a synonym for positive change in the way our police handle those kinds of situations.
Disappointingly however, instead of moving forward and learning from this for the next time, we'll use our outrage and recourses to come up with catchy little phrases like "black lives matter"
I have also seen "Blue lives matter"
Both are true, yet sadly inappropriate in this situation.

The simple truth is that we live in a violent, dangerous world.
If you bring a knife to a gun fight you'll always end up on the losing end.
And finally...
If this boy hadn't been black it never would have made the evening news.

Glad I got that out of my system.
Maybe now that I've written it down, I can watch TV without yelling at it.

 Well, it finally happened.
It's come to my attention that the Fast Food Industry has finally found a way to turn me off to their food and help me lose weight.
You see, someone I know who is a major druggie/pothead was just hired at one of the more popular of the lot. And to my amazement, and his delight, he found out that they do not drug test their employees? Ever.
I mean, this is a guy I wouldn't trust to deliver my food much less cook it. And yet there he is. Working where people have to trust his... Judgement,..  in respect to what they put in their mouths!!
Having myself been employed there years ago, I have often disputed the popular stereotype as being the end of the line career-wise. At the time, the store I worked at was run with almost military efficiency. And I've since then been proud to admit my past employment.
That was a long time ago however.
And my experiences as a customer since then have rapidly declined.
And now it all makes sense.
The incorrect orders
The many inverted or misconstructed sandwiches.
Incorrect change.
The attitude.
I really shouldn't feel as though I'm intruding or interrupting for wanting to place an order.
And now, after learning this, it's all fallen into place. It all makes perfect sense.
As of now, I will no longer be stupid enough to expect anything but shoddy uninterested service from from this class of eatery.
I will still get their coffee... I love their coffee... But nothing else.
So thank you Fast Food Giants for inadvertently taking an interest in my weight loss.

Gotta be honest. I'm amazed that these employers, who predominantly employ people born within the last 20 years don't  drug test. I mean who's gonna feed all those pot head losers with the munchies if the workers are too "relaxed" to put a piece of meat between 2 buns?
People might not respect these purveyors of greasy goodness that much, but until recently they've always been dependable and consistent. You don't crave a hamburger. You crave a McDonalds hamburger. You don't crave chicken, you crave KFC! Yum! We've all come expect that wether it be a week or a year since you've had your last one that you can expect that same dependable, familiar eating experience.
The main problem however as I see it is that there are more than a few people out there that equate these restaurants with America. And if their collective standards are in decline how does that reflect upon the rest of our country.
My honest, and correct opinion, is that if the government is ever stupid enough to legalize marijuana, they'll pretty much be ending this country.
Sorry to sound dramatic. I just have a lot of real life experience with Pot heads, and I know they depend on people believing their lifestyle is harmless. Pot breeds apathy. And thats dangerous... Especially in the workforce. Would you buy a car made in Jamaica? Think long term.
And that's why, (And yes I know I'm beating a dead horse here) that celebrities should not be given any forum in this matter.
Collectively they have no idea of what we "Little People" are going through.
In the "Real World" people need to be able to trust and depend upon each other. An expected service should not depend on the drug addled whim of some loser.
"Yes I did want fries with that... And yes I did pay for them... But I didn't get them!"
If a singer, comedian, actor or director becomes apathetic and decides that they don't want to do something, their career will simply shrivel up an die with no one the worse for it. And allowing someone as fickle or pig headed as this to influence anyone would be very, very dangerous.

But then... as usual... I'm talking to myself. Everyone else is too stupid to even try to understand.

Legalizing mariguana will destroy America!

Clearly the only people who can even consider legalizing the use of marihuana  for anything other than medical usage are those of unquestionable selfishness and stupidity.

I have long said that the only ones who should be allowed to use pot recreationally are those in the entertainment industry as they really don't do anything important.
You see marijuana has one prominent effect.
If a singer, actor or director becomes apathetic and decides that they don't want to go into work or that they only want to do half the job on a given day then their the only real person that suffers. I mean if a certain artist comes out with a bad record or movie they eventually disappear from the show biz big loss.
However, if the people who do the really important jobs in the world become "unmotavated"  You know who I mean. The person that cuts my hair, makes my hamburger or repairs my car is phoning it in then that effects me personally.
I don't know about anyone else, but the possibility of the person handling my medication at the pharmacy or hospital or being only marginally interested in doing a proper job scares the crap out of me!
I mean it's no coincidence that the popularity of marijuana coincided exactly with the dumbing down of America. To this day we have a large majority of the public who can't even be bothered to muster up the effort to speak the English language correctly.
If anything, I would hope that any business owner at all would loath this possibility! Never mind the exponential increase in absenteeism, I would be more concerned with the overall quality of any product or service.
I mean honestly. Would you buy a car made in Jamaica or Amsterdam?
Legalizing Pot will unquestioningly destroy the already questionable work ethic that exists in today's society.
I don't pretend to understand the always fluctuating information on the medical effects that Pot has on your body and so won't even try to enter an argument on that front. I'm far more interested in my personal future as an aging American. Having to depend on the coming drug induced generations  as I grow older and more personally dependent is a frightening possibility. Ending up immobile and dependent in a nursing home or assisted living community and having to depend on someone who's had prolonged exposure to a brain altering substance.
This however is a concern that only I seem to have.
As with everything else, those with the ample financial resources to not have to worry about these trivial things will no doubt win out in the end, but Its my desperate hope that even one person with foresight reads and comprehends this fact.
Personally disappointing is the fact that my fellow Sci Fi nerds are actually going along with with this madness.
I mean the basis of more science fiction novels than I can count is the widespread pacification of the masses of the lower casts.

Oh well, I guess well get what we deserve.

This weeks journey into the realm of epic stupidity Is entitled:

Recently I went to hospital to drop someone off (I won'mention the hospitals name) and even though there are signs all around the perimeter stating that they are a"no smoking facility" there were several nurses huddled not too far away from the doors greedily puffing away.
Not only that, but neither one was weariness a jacket despite the temperature which was just above freezing. Needless to say, seeing two supposed health care professionals not only stupid enough to be smoking, but also not smart enough to be wearing coats, did little to support my confidence in their abilities as health care providers.
I mean, I find it hard enough to understand the average moron who smokes, but a doctor or nurse.........
These are people who've supposedly had some form of medical training. You know people who've heard of things like Cancer, COPD, Tuberculosis. Things that you hope we're touched upon in their schooling.
Unless they skipped that class.
Makes you wonder what other things they may have missed or disregarded.
Silly I know, but these are the kinds of things that go through a persons mind as they come into the medical purview.
And I'll tell you something else. Weather your a patient in a room who's been admitted, or sitting in a waiting room waiting, the one thing you have time for is.....thinking. And all manner of strange & offbeat things will enter your mind. Paranoia and introspection take over weather staring at a wall in a room, or trying to avert your gaze from the other equally disorientated people trying to avert their gazes.
Unless those in the medical profession know something we don't, it's hard to imagine how they can be so overwhelmingly stupid.
Imagine next that they have children watching & weighing their every move. What kind of impression does this convey?
You just have to wonder about their intelligence......Or lack if it.
Let me put it in different terms.
If you were watching a weight loss informercial with a 400 lb. host. Extolling the virtues of their miraculous and expensive weight loss product. How quick would you be to send your money?

Hello & welcome to the 1st entry in my blog.
I don't know why most people write these, but myself, I'm hoping to maybe get some sleep.
A type of self therapy.
You see I have thoughts. Nagging, reoccurring notions that continually stay with me like a great commercial jingle that pushes all other focus aside.
A way to get some of the things that frighten & amaze me on a daily basis off my mind ......and out of my head.
You see, like the old cliche, I do hear voices.....except their my own.
